DIRECT METHOD On late years of the XIX century a revolution in language teaching philosophy took place,teachers frustrated by the limits of the grammar translation method in terms of its inability to create communicative competence in students ,began to attempting to teach foreing languages in a way similar to the first language acquisition,so, they created the direct method,that was a method that did not permit the use of translation method,one of the most important teachers of the direct method was Maximilian Berlitz who was a German Emigrant who lived in USA, he created schools for teaching applying direct method into USA and other countries,however;he never called it direct method,he called it the Berlitz method.The direct method was stablish in Germany and France aruond 1900.
